Yeah I know. By now, all AKB fans around the world should already know the answer to who's in the top 16, who dropped out, and who's number one. I'm writing this to just to share my own opinion on the elections.
Okay, let's start off from the Future Girls (FG -> ranked 49-64).
Perhaps the biggest surprise in the lineup was the inclusion of Hirajima Natsumi(62). Graduated last year due to a scandal. Besides that, it was the inclusion of two HKT kenkyuusei, Tomonaga Mio(59) and Tashima Meru(55). The center for FG is NMB's Yabushita Shu.
Nacchan was the only graduated member to ranked. The fact that she had a scandal is what made me more confused. I personally believe that among the graduated members, Noro or Meetan deserves to be ranked but heck nobody wants old hags as idols. Huh, Mariko who?
Moving on to the Next Girls (NG -> ranked 33-48)
Oba Mina takes the coveted 48th place. Lovetan's rank increased from last year. Kuramochi dropped to NG. The biggest surprise is that most of NG girls are first timers. NG center is Sato Amina
Quite irritating to see that the girl who ranked 8th during the first elections is now ranked 33rd. Where did the love gone to? Where did she do wrong? But I guess this is a great opportunity to restart since she's now a center of a music video. Same goes for Lovetan and Mocchi.
Shit starts to get real from Under Girls (UG -> 17-32)
Just as I predicted, Miichan and Umechan is out of senbatsu but I didn't expect Kitarie to be out of senbatsu as well. Miyawaki Sakura unexpectedly ranked 26th.
What I can conclude of the UG lineup is the dominance of SKE48. Almost half of UG are SKE girls. Even the center is Shibata Aya who gave people a real scare when she ranked 8th in the preliminaries. Well done, SKE wotas.

Miyuki, Sayanee and Paruru is in the senbatsu at last after all that push since last year. Akarin's inclusion in senbatsu is also a major surprise but it just points out that for the past few years, SKE wotas are as dead serious as AKB wotas in making their local talents ranked higher. Tomochin, Takamina, and Kojima's ranks dropped. The Kami7 or Kami8 term is supposed to be dead by now and next year, there will be no more Mariko and Tomochin. If it's still legit, then the WMatsui pair is in the new Kami7. The mother of all surprises has to start from Mayuyu. From the moment the MC called out "3rd place... AKB48.. Team A...",

After all that speculations of Mayu is the most compatible next gen center, it is kind of anti-climactic that she didn't win. After that, I knew an even bigger surprise is coming up. When Yuko suddenly stood up after Mayu's speech...

Actually this is my first ever elections and already is the best one for me. This year's election made the whole Acchan/Yuko rivalry in the past looked like a big fucking joke.
Nevertheless, congratulations Sashihara Rino!
Still continuing the trend, there has never been a consecutive winner in the elections.
About Sasshi as center
I first knew Sasshi, well, in the 0048 series last year but I didn't really spend time to find out more about her until earlier this year where I watched the 2011 Kohaku Uta Gassen and I saw Sasshi sang Dear J. I was automatically drawn to her until now. She has a pretty interesting character. She's super funny like Yuko but you definitely can't put Sasshi in the same place as Acchan or Yuko in terms of being a center. Acchan is the very symbol of a girl-next-door who's reaching out for her dreams and became better each and every year. Yuko meanwhile is a girl with talents in many aspects.
"Sasshi is neither. She admitted that she is a hetare - someone who is not very good at anything. Even after her scandal!!!!" - If you only look at her from this point of view, you will never turn to like her. I mean, what's not to like about her? Her character alone wins people's hearts. Even I got hooked on first sight by her personality. I don't hate her. I never hate her and I will never ever hate her.
About her scandal though... I knew two versions.
1 - She admitted to have slept with her fan.
2 - I knew this from the documentary movie.
Her past relationship with a male fan was exposed. She confirms of the relationship. That's it. No sleeping involved. Though I don't know if whether they slept during their relationship or not.
I don't which is true but I think I'll stick with the second one since it's based on a video evidence :P
Well, it's past already and it seems everyone has gotten over it... I hope.
I don't really care about those stuffs too much. What worries to me most during the elections was Paruru's rank. Hell the management wants a new center, they got a new center! It's Rino. I think the move to HKT was actually not a demotion but a promotion. Knowing her personality, she can only gain more fans in HKT than losing old ones in AKB. She even became HKT's manager now.
And as for me, I am totally hyped to see what sort of single this will turn out to be. I am expecting a Hebirote part 2 but I think senbatsu singles like Iiwake Maybe suits a Sasshi-center single more.
August 21st is the release of AKB48 32nd single. Now waiting super patiently.
